The Ice Cream Truck Found Us

When we lived in Utah, the kids would listen for the sound of the ice cream truck. Suddenly it found us here too much to the delight of all.

You've never seen the kids run faster! Here they pose with their choices. I was hoping the Schwann's truck could just keep being our ice cream truck. Sadly, I missed it today with soccer practice which has now begun.

Wiggelo

A new fun song called "Wiggelo" was taught, learned and shared at Scout Camp on June 12.  It's demonstrated here.

See the light, shine the light!

We've had rain almost every day for weeks now.  The sky can be dramatic, especially as it clears after a storm or is thinking of storming again!   On a recent walk I was struck by the green grass and blue sky framing the white temple.

I like how it looks like a green carpet (anybody remember the outdoor green carpet?) or 3 stripes of different colored jello in a glass although I'm not sure how blueberry and lime jello tastes together.  So I grabbed my camera and drove back to those spots and quickly snapped a bunch of photos within about a 10 minute window.

The photos start from the tip of the temple to partial, then most of it's revealed and finally the full temple.  I added the song "The Light" by April Meservy performed on the 2004-2006 EFY CD, which I think fits well -- "See the light, shine the light . . ."

I hope you enjoy seeing these temple photos and "the light".

11 year olds Camp Out

Our twin sons had their first overnight scout camp out this weekend!  My husband loves scouting and camping and enjoyed going along. The boys loved discovering the wonders of their new pocket knives and compasses.

 Here is their camp site.

Discovering a watering trough at the top of the hill.

Preparing for their hike by learning about orienteering -- how to use their new compasses.

Locating True North.

Coming back to their camp site from their hike.

Eleven 11 year olds -- yikes!

The race is on in the obstacle course.  Over and under they go!
Whose team would come in first?

And then there was the crab walking.

David's end of the cake was the end of the tumble track.   Andrew's end of the cake is the rings.

We sang first to David and then to Andrew.

The tumble track cake was made of cupcakes with heavy cream and pudding frosting which I spread all over them as if it was a cake.   I added lots of black food coloring to get the look of the tumble track.  You should have seen the black fingers after the boys ate these!
